The Customer
The Oxfordshire Golf Club is part of the Leaderboard Group and has a very impressive clubhouse of some 40,000 square feet set in an elevated location overlooking this world renowned championship golf course. It was designed and constructed in 1993 in the North American parkland style by course architect Reece Jones. It is located conveniently close to the M40 Motorway making it exceptionally accessible from London and the Midlands.
The Challenge
The club had an old communication system which had become unreliable. Some of the old handsets had water damage and become 'beyond economic repair'. Resound was asked to recommend and demonstrate an alternative product based on our experience with other Golf Clubs in the UK. The new product was required to be smaller and lighter than the existing old handsets, with a Lithium Ion battery for all day usage in various weather conditions.

The Benefits
Resound recommended the use of Kenwood TK-2160 VHF handportable radios which are ideally suited to this type of requirement. Working closely with the Greenkeepers Department it was possible to program our loan equipment on the golf club's existing licensed radio channel for evaluation purposes. The handportables performed well, providing coverage of the site without the additional cost of a base station and antenna system.
The new handsets are used successfully every day to co-ordinate a large team and many pieces of specialist equipment over a wide area.
