Resound take on new contract with ISS Mediclean to supply radio system to Newham Hospital

ISS UK is one of the country’s largest facility services providers with revenues exceeding £550m pa and employing over 40,000 people. Their Healthcare Division is ISS Mediclean.

Newham University Hospital is an acute hospital Trust caring for one of the youngest, fastest-growing and most diverse populations in the country. Their work in Diabetes and Bilingual Health Advocacy has both won national Health and Social Care awards; and the Chest Pain Clinic is a Beacon Site. Serving Newham's 240,000+ population the hospital has been investing heavily in the future with the new site in Plaistow, where Resound have installed a High tech Radio Communication system. The construction of new buildings and the introduction of the new ISS Mediclean Facilities Management Team created the need for a more capable radio communications system. The immediate need was to provide one-to-one and group voice communication.

Resound recommended the TK 3180 as the hand portable, as it has a full keypad and a clear display that is very easy to use. Having seven separate groups of users that want to converse required the use of a trunking system. All staff needed to be able to make individual and group calls, this required careful design of the system configuration.

The solution was to provide a three-channel system that would accommodate all the current and future needs and the capacity of the system can easily be extended as requirements change. Due to Resounds technical expertise and over 50 years experience we were not only able to provide clear voice communication throughout the site but we were also able to plan in the addition of data facilities ready for when these are needed.

“I have found Resound to be very helpful and efficient, everything we discussed was delivered and on time I am pleased with the service we have received” Steve Coombe Business Support Manager ISS mediclean.

Tony Kenyon, Installation Engineer said “many staff have commented on the simplicity of the new system and ease of use and the quality of the communication”.
